What is Tajveed Quran               

The word “Tajveed” means to improve, make better.  “Tajveed” or “Tajvid” is very commonly used term in the context of Quran recitation. In terms of Quran reading & recitation, Tajveed is actually a set of linguistic and pronunciation rules used while reciting the Quran in the right way as the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was reciting.

The Word Tajveed is from the root word “Jawdah” which means “Quality”. Tajveed means “Improving,” or “to make something better.”

The word Tajveed linguistically means ‘proficiency’ or ‘doing something well’. When applied to the Quran, it means giving every letter of the Quran its rights and dues. When we recite Quran and observe the rules that apply to each letter in different situations, we are giving the letter its right and by observing essential characteristics of each letter, we give its due.

What are Tajveed rules in the Quran?

The rules of Tajveed are classified as follows:

  1. Noon and Meem Mushaddad is that noon or meem which has a shaddah with Ghunnah of 2 beats.
  2. Al –Qalqalah is vibration the sound at the end of the pronunciation of any letter of Qaaf, Ttaa, Baa, Jiim or Daal, when it is Saakin; with sukoon or shaddah.
